Designed for gentle, supervised lead training, a puppy training lead a practical addition to your puppy's first training essentials.
The Spaniel School Puppy Training Slip Lead is much lighter and softer than our standard slip lead. It also has a little give, so it stretches ever so slightly. Every lead is handmade by me in the UK in a range of colours.
Thinner rope – A smaller, lighter design for young puppies.
Extra length – Approx. 120cm long
Lightweight design – Less bulky than a standard adult slip lead.
Always use a slip lead carefully, avoiding pressure on your puppy's neck. It isn't intended to stop pulling, and a suitable harness or flat collar may be preferable for puppies still learning to walk without pulling.
Getting a puppy used to walking on a lead doesn't need to be complicated, but it's something worth taking your time with. I'd always recommend starting somewhere quiet and familiar, such as your garden or indoors, before expecting your puppy to walk nicely around lots of distractions.
Keep things positive, reward your puppy for staying engaged with you and gradually build up to more challenging environments. Pair this with heel work inside with a ball or some high value treats.
Remember, the lead itself doesn't teach your puppy to walk without pulling. It's the training you do together that makes the difference!
